Vote for Miss World online November 26, 2008 Web User
AOL has launched a website that will allow you to register your vote in the 58th Miss World contest.
One hundred and twenty candidates will take part in the contest in South Africa, which lasts for a month. The site will feature video updates throughout the competition.
Visitors to the website can give each contestant a mark out of 10 for the official Miss World People's Choice Award.
The contestant with the most votes from the site's visitors will be automatically fast-tracked to the final round of the Miss World pageant, taking place on 13 December.
"We are delighted that our more than 40 million users in France, Germany and the UK can now share in the excitement of Miss World online," said Joanna Bickmore of AOL.
AOL is partnering with Amuso.com, an interactive services provider that enables websites to provide voting systems to promote the contest.
"After the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup Soccer finals, Miss World is the most popular televised event in the world," said Jordi Bartomeu, co-founder of Amuso.
"Extending its reach via an interactive online channel means that it has the potential to be one of the biggest-ever audience participation events," added Bartomeu.
