Watch UK TV free online November 25, 2008 Web User
TVCatchup.com, a site that allows you to watch free-to-air UK TV channels including BBC One and ITV1 over the web, has officially launched.
However, the site, which currently offers 18 channels and hopes to have 40 by the end of the year, has been seen before, but was voluntarily closed down in February.
Several broadcasters initially expressed concern about the recording facility available on TVCatchup.com.
There isn't a recording facility on the current incarnation of the website, though the people behind the site say they are working on this feature.
A TVCatchup.com spokesman told Web User: "TVCatchup has consulted with the broadcasters - they were granted full and exclusive access to the service prior to the public launch.
"No objections to our claim that the website operates in accordance with current legislation were raised," the spokesman continued.
For now, the site is only accessible in the UK though TVCatchup.com is keen to roll it out overseas to "holiday makers, ex-patriots and British forces staff who would not otherwise be able to view their favourite programmes when away from home".
You will also need a TV licence to watch content on TVCatchup.com. The BBC is due to begin live streaming of BBC One and BBC Two online on Thursday 27 November.
